NOVA Surface - Experts in Demanding Injection Mold Surfaces
NOVA Surface GmbH designs, textures, polishes and repairs injection mold surfaces. At our headquarters in Viersen, Germany, we combine skilled craftsmanship with digital surface design and laser technology. The result is repeatable cosmetic and functional surfaces engineered around the mold geometry, molded part and series-production process.
NOVA Surface was founded in November 2021. Our team brings together more than 25 years of experience in surface technology and proven expertise in complex surface projects. We support customers in the automotive, electronics and consumer goods industries—from the initial texture concept to the fully processed and inspected mold surface.
Surface Technology from Viersen, Germany
A high-quality mold surface begins long before processing starts. Surface design, CAD data, mold steel, geometry, demolding direction, texture depth and gloss level must be coordinated at an early stage. NOVA Surface therefore considers the entire process chain rather than individual production steps in isolation.
Our specialists review the technical requirements, develop or digitize surface textures and prepare the data for reliable application to the mold. Depending on the design and application, we produce the texture using chemical etching or laser texturing. Complementary services such as Surface Design & CAD, Mold Polishing, Mold Repair & Laser Welding and On-Site Mold Repair provide customers with one technically coordinated solution. Chemical Etching or Laser Texturing Complementary services such as Surface Design and CAD, Mold Polishing, Mold Repair & Laser Welding such as Mobile Repair Service provide customers with one technically coordinated solution.
Experience, Development and Custom Solutions
NOVA Surface combines extensive application experience with strong research and development capabilities in surface design and texture engineering. This allows us to evaluate technical, functional and aesthetic requirements together and develop a surface solution for the specific mold and molded part.
We do not believe in applying a standard solution at any cost. Our team determines which process is technically appropriate, which data and reference samples are required, and how transitions, texture orientation and gloss levels can be implemented reliably. Clear coordination and traceable approvals are particularly important for complex 3D geometries, converging surfaces and international mold projects.
Integrated Project Management and Controlled Quality
From the initial inquiry through final quality inspection, NOVA Surface coordinates the key project stages. A dedicated contact manages technical questions and aligns the requirements with design, engineering, moldmaking and production teams. This keeps decision-making efficient and reduces unnecessary correction loops.
For us, quality means meeting agreed requirements reliably and on schedule. This includes careful mold inspection, controlled processing and verification of textures, transitions, roughness values and gloss levels. We use customer feedback and project data to continuously improve our surface designs, efficiency, employee expertise and technical processes.
Technical Capabilities for Demanding Injection Molds
Our Viersen facility provides approximately 750 square meters of production space and a crane with a lifting capacity of 12.5 metric tons. Our technical equipment includes modern laser systems, a high-resolution digital printer, a 1,100-dpi digital scanner and a Keyence VR-6000 3D optical profilometer.
This equipment supports the controlled processing, measurement and documentation of different mold sizes and surface requirements. Digital processes and experienced manual finishing work together, enabling us to produce repeatable laser textures, traditional chemically etched surfaces, defined roughness values and demanding high-gloss finishes.
International Support in Europe and North America
In addition to our headquarters in Viersen, NOVA Surface operates NOVA Surface North America in Querétaro, Mexiko.. This enables us to support customers and production facilities directly across Europe and North America. Close cooperation between Germany and Mexico combines regional availability with technical expertise across locations.
Through the Surface Technologies Network , NOVA Surface also collaborates with international partners. The network supports technical knowledge transfer, project-specific capacity and the coordination of global project approvals. Responsibilities, technical specifications and quality criteria are clearly defined for each project.
Quality, Innovation and Technical Expertise in Every Texture
Our vision is to advance mold surface texturing through continuous technical development. Modern processes, skilled craftsmanship and open collaboration form the foundation of our work. Our goal is to create surfaces that deliver the intended design, perform reliably and produce repeatable results in series production.
